Tinted Tropicalia

Today I have a nifty layering mani for you. This is two coats of Wet n Wild's Tropicalia which is a pretty pink cream polish that leans a little peach. On top of that is two coats of Revlon's Just Tinted in Dawn. I like the shiny jelly look the tinted polish created over the cream finish. This was a really neat sort of honeyscuckle color when it was finished.

China Glaze Below Deck with Sally Hansen's Rock Candy

So, some of my readers know that I am a fan of the British television show called Doctor Who. There is a character on the show named Amy who wears some great nail polish. Recently, I was surfing the net and saw a website that named one of the polishes she wore that I had fallen in love with. The purple/taupe/greige color was identified as probably being China Glaze's Channelesque but Below Deck was named as a good alternative. When I was in NY recently I had the opportunity to pick up Below Deck at a discount and that's just was I did! This is two coats of BD with one of Seche.

Then after two days of wearing BD it was time for me to change colors but I just wasn't up to a whole new mani. I added Sally Hansen Rock Candy from their summer collection. This is a really neat glitter topcoat that has iridescent hex glitters in various colors.

But plain glitter just wasn't making me happy so I matte-ified it with Essie Matte About You. I realllly like this combination :-)

OPI Miss Universe Collection

So, in a gift swap my dog forum does every summer, my swap partner sent me some great gifts. The one I was most excited about and jumped up and down when I opened it was the entire OPI Miss Universe Collection. Best gift ever to come back to after a loooong car ride home from NY.

I could not for the life of me get a good picture of the four bottles together but here's a quick run down of all of the colors. My absolute favorite was Swimsuit...Nailed it! and I got at least 20 compliments on it the two days I wore it. I don't really like Crown Me Already but maybe it was because I only did a quick (and messy) swatch of it.  Its My Year was great, I loved the gold glitter but I had a lot of trouble getting the shimmer to show up in Congeniality is My Middle Name.

NY State Haul

Ok, you already saw the polishes I got when I was in NYC, here are the polishes I got when I was in Upstate NY. The Wet n Wild Polishes came from a 5-pack of minis, the Sally Hansens came from a Rite Aid, and the rest of the polishes came from a salon shop in a local mall.

Left to right: WnW Hush Hush, Tropicalia, and Red Tape ChG Below Deck Orly Beverly Hills Plumb Essie Fair Game and Da Bush Sally Hansen Rock'n'Roll and Rock Candy.

I wore the Orly by itself and it's a pretty sheer pink. I don't have a picture yet of the Just Tinted polishes I picked up yet but I'll post them soon!

Milani High Speed Fast Dry

Here's an email I got from Milani this morning about their new High Speed colors. I'm not sure that many of the colors are novel but the good news is that Milani is finally doing a larger "Flat Brush" style in their bottles for better coverage!

The colors from Left to Right:
Purple Rush, Instantaneous Blue, Racy Green, Hot Pink Frenzy, Jiffy Orange, Yellow Whiz, Violet Dash, and Fast Fuchsia

The names are a little much in my opinion, I mean who names a yellow Whiz??? I do like the looks of Racy Green though.

Celebration nails: Birthday and Wedding

Here are two of the manicures I had a few weeks ago. The first is the one I wore for my 22nd birthday which was two coats of Essie Pink Diamond and two of Ruby Kisses Crazy Night Out. I thought the purple glitter on the light pink shimmer would make a nice confetti looking manicure and I was right. Sorry about the crappy lighting, my camera wasn't cooperating that day.

The next manicure was the one I had done for my wedding day. This was two coats of Essie Tennis Corset and then french tips with Essie Blanc. I wasn't terribly happy with the manicurist that did the tips but I just tried to ignore their imperfection and be happy that my nails were long enough for natural tips.

Essie Fair Game with Inglot Flakies

So today I have for you the pictures missing from yesterday's post. This combination is Essie's Fair Game from their resort collection with Inglot Flakies 204. The flakies are blue and yellow depending on the light, and they're pretty hard to capture but I tried! I adore Fair Game by itself, I wore it to match a blue and white dress I wore to a wedding last weekend. It's a great gunmetal blue and I think it will be something I'll wear this coming fall and winter.

And here's a bonus picture of Nfu-Fakes from Chinatown:

Times Square Haul

Today I have for you the three polishes I picked up on my first day in NYC. I picked up two Flaky polishes at Inglot, 202 and 204. I also picked up Illamasqua's Scarab at the Times Square Sephora. I haven't edited the pictures with 204 yet but I do have Scarab with 202 which was a completely EPIC combination!

I'm Back!

I'm finally home again after three weeks away. It was a whirlwind of wedding preparations, honeymooning, and attending another wedding. For today I'll post some pictures of the first polish I wore on my honeymoon: OPI's Skull & Glossbones. One of my awesome bridesmaids bought it for me as a birthday present and I love it!

And here it is with an EPIC addition. I stopped by Inglot in Times Square the first day of my honeymoon because I found out from Gotham Polish that they regularly carry flakies which I had to have. So, here is skull & glossbones with Inglot 202 as a topcoat.
