Orly Nite Owl

Hello Ninjas!

It's been cloudy, rainy, and chilly here this week! Today is the first day we've had proper sunlight since Saturday! I enjoy fall weather but I'm not really a fan of the rain that comes with it in the south. Ah well, at least it's not melt-your-face hot anymore.

Today's manicure is two coats of Orly Nite Owl from their super popular Birds of a Feather collection that brought us Fowl Play. While Fowl Play was busy being hailed as a fantastic dupe for the much sought OPI Merry Midnight, most of the other colors were forgotten, especially this nude shimmer. Since the collection has left stores, I've been wishing I'd picked up Nite Owl and I finally got in a swap with a lovely lady. Now that I have it, I love it! Minus the holographic particles, this is actually a dupe for butter LONDON All Hail (Mc)Queen which is on my lemming list still. This is a wonderful neutral color that isn't plain or blah; love it!

Ulta Good Clean Fawn

Hello Ninjas!

It's been a nice relaxing Friday here in sunny NC. The weather was warm but what do you expect from a southern summer? I spent most of my time inside getting a little R&R but the hubby and I did go out to lunch with a good friend of ours so that was nice. Next week we're headed to a concert and we can't wait! It will be the first concert we've attended together and two of our favorite bands will be there :) I can't decide which band I want to match my concert manicure to though, decisions decisions.

Tonight's manicure is a color I picked up on clearance at Ulta quite a while back: Good Clean Fawn. Since I love the cream with hidden shimmer finish on polish, a nude/brown version of this was right up my alley. GCF is a dark tan cream polish that leans slightly pink and has a sort of hidden light gold/pink shimmer. As with most hidden shimmer polishes, this wasn't an easy one to capture on camera but it was a nice subtle color to wear between the brights that dominate summer.

Zoya Shay

Good afternoon Ninjas!

Today I've got Zoya Shay from their Touch collection that released over the summer. This was the one I thought would be closest to my mannequin hands at the time. It is entirely possible that when I picked this color up, it would have matched my slightly tanned complexion perfectly. However, since I did not swatch it until the dead of winter when I'm getting zero sunlight, it's too dark for my hands. The color itself is really pretty and the pearly shimmer makes it a more unique nude color but it just isn't right for my winter-time skin tone. Two coats was all it took for this to be opaque though which was a pleasant surprise considering how light the color was. It self-leveled as I expect of all Zoya colors and was a nice neutral color to wear after the amazing sparkle and awe of Dragon.

Palate Cleanser

So I was looking for a nice plain, pale, nude ish color to give me a break from all the shiny colors I've been doing lately. I ended up picking Mamba by Essie which is a gorgeous rose leaning beige with a great subtle shimmer.

This pretty color makes me think of the nudes that Zoya is releasing this summer.
