Quck Haul Post!

I told you in an earlier post that I got a bunch of nail polish on clearance from Hot Topic. I still have to say that six mini polishes for $2.97 is a great price! Then a bottle of star glitter for $3 made the trip 7 polishes for only $7.

The glitter in the far right nail set looks a little like Party of Five Glitters from Wet n Wild's FastDry collection for this spring. I'll have to try it out and let you know what I think!

Matte About You and Pink This!

My ebay order for Essie's Matte About You came today! I'm so excited to try this over something shimmery or glittery. I just don't  know what to use it over first. Took a picture of the box and then put it on my (naked!!!) thumb nail so you could see how it took away the shine.

Then, sick of the spastic blue I was wearing, I tried out Oke Doke Pink This. It's a pretty dusty light pink with a lot of shimmer and some silver glitter in it. Not the easiest nail polish to layer but it is a very nice color. This is three coats with no base and a Sech topcoat. It's a little more pink and less silver in person and a very nice, slightly flashy, neutral you would be able to wear to work.

SinfulColors: Daddy's Girl and Sally Hansen Blizzard Blue

Ok so I tried on Daddy's Girl from Sinful last night and it is a GORGEOUS purple jelly with flakies/glitter but it takes forever and a day to layer so I'll have to try it over something next time. This is three coats with Seche Base and Vite on bottom/top.

This is Sally Hansen's XtremeWear in Blizzard Blue. I have not seen a swatch of this anywhere, I was looking for half an hour last night and didn't see a single one! So weird. This is a gorgeous light blue/teal/green duochrome that's almost a multichrome. It looks like mermaid scales or something. I failed to catch the flashes of other color here because I had to rush to work right after painting my nails.

This is three coats with no base and Seche Vite on top.

I got another haul last night after going to the Mall with my fiance. I got three two packs of polish (all different) at Hot Topic for .98 cents each! That's less than .50 cent a bottle. I also picked up a stars and glitter polish too because I don't have star glitter yet. Pictures tomorrow :)

Walgreens Haul

Ok so I've been reading about SinfulColors nail polish but I always thought it was in the China Glaze price range so I'd end up ordering it online if I needed to have a color. Well, today I saw a huge display of Sinful at Walgreens and they were the same price as Wet n Wild! I of course had to pick some up. On top of the Sinfuls, I grabbed another new FastDry, Silvivor and two more of the Shines.

I'm now wearing the dark purple with glitter Sinful. I can't remember it's name and I'm sure I'll post it tomorrow for you when I post the swatch. I'll also post the names of all the polishes I got.

I got the white because I didn't have one to use as a base for other more translucent colors.

Again, I'll get the names for the Shine colors for you tomorrow!

Jesse's Girl: Riff-Raff

Ok so I took pictures of this color last night but when I was editing them to post today the clean up was just so horrible that I decided I'll re-take the pictures when I get home later. For now, here's a look at the line-up!

EDIT: Here's the swatch of Jesse's Girl Riff-Raff in the shade. I love this reddish brown mahogany with golden-ish shimmer. Two coats was perfect application.

I also stopped by Walgreens where I found a Sinful display and picked upa bunch of colors (Haul to be posted later) and thought All About Me would look good over Riff-Raff.

All About Me is a gold glitter that leans towards the green spectrum but was quite pretty in one coat over Riff-Raff.

Mini Haul and an Unnamed Hello Kitty Polish

Sooo I stopped by Rite Aid on my way to tutoring today and picked up two lines I haven't heard much about: Oke Doke and Jesse's Girl. I got Pink This and Camo Loco by Jesse's girl and Oke Doke's Riff-Raff and Fool's Gold. I also saw a display of Sally Hansen's newer colors and picked up Blizzrd Blue.

The picture below is of the unnamed Hello Kitty polish that I got in a mini-pack. I know this is with flash but it's far more true to the color than the non-flash was. This was a weird polish with almost a matte finish. Went on fine in two coats though.

I couldn't stand the look of the neon matte-ish pink by itself so I put Sally Hansen Strobe Lights on top of it. This is two coats with one of Seche Vite over top.

The line up! To tell the truth, I've already taken this off because it was just burning my retinas. I'll be trying Riff-Raff on tonight.

Wet n Wild FastDry Blue Wants to be a Millionaire

I was procrastinating today because I have a paper due tomorrow and I wanted to put it off until after the parties happening tonight. I ended up adding Blue Wants to be a Millionaire over Saved by the Blue. The effect is really pretty though I failed to think about the green tinge the blue jelly would give to The Wonder Yellow so that was unfortunate. This turned out really pretty though since Blue Wants to be a Millionaire went on nice in one coat (Since I didn't need opacity with layering) in one swipe! There's a nice scattered holo effect to this polish and I really like it. Can't wait to try out Hannah Pinktana over FuschiaRama!

I know it's blurry but this picture shows off the sparkles very nicely.( With Flash)

No flash here, this shows how the blue jelly discolored The Wonder Yellow.

YAY I look what I'm getting:

Ok so I was looking around on Ebay for China Glaze L8R G8R because it's on my lemming list and I neeeed it... So after putting a bid on a bottle of that, I looked around for matte topcoats because I haven't gotten to try that out yet and nowhere I go seems to have matte anything in stock. Soooo I bid on Essie's Matte topcoat and won!

Now I have to think of what I'm going to use it over when it gets here...

Blockbuster Manicure!

Ok so I work at Blockbuster when I'm not in class and I wanted to use two of my new colors to do a BB inspired manicure. I used two colors from the new Wet n Wild FastDry collection: Saved By the Blue and The Wonder Yellow. Saved by the blue went on beautifully in two coats whereas the wonder yellow took three plus coats to get opaque and also got sticky so additional coats were pulling on the bottom ones... I eventually got it to work but man the yellow took forever!

This first picture is with flash and shows a bit of the pretty shimmer in both colors. The Wonder Yellow actually has rainbow shimmer in it but it's hard to see in such a light color Saved by the Blue is gorgeous, even though it's no neon, it seems to be glowing, it's really nice.

No flash, less true to color for The Wonder Yellow.

 The lineup! No Flash.

With flash, this actually makes the Wonder Yellow look more yellow than gold. It's a pretty combination of both and I wish it would build easier!

I had actually planned to use the yellow to french the tips of all of my nails but when I went to tape them, the tape was taking Saved by the Blue off too easily. Even though these are called FastDry, they took a bit longer than I expected to dry!

Peace and Love!

So I was dying to change my color today and instead I added to it! I used some scotch tape to make a Peace sign on my thumbs and painted over it with Wet n Wild FastDry The Wonder Yellow. Then because that just wasn't enough (I was bored...) I used the no name heart glitter I got from Target's dollar bins on my ring fingers. The result is what I'm calling my Peace and Love manicure!

The clean up on my thumb is non-existant...  But I thought it was cute! I did clean up the extra gold once I was done. This is two coats of The Wonder Yellow and I really like this color. I think it will be my next swatch :)

The Collection

So recently I got a comment asking for a picture of the whole collection... Well it's not as much as it could be but it's certainly grown in the last few weeks... So here it is!

Ok so it's not the whole collection because it doesn't include my base and top coats but it's all the pretty colors!

I think this second picture should be my header for the blog, who wants to prettify it for me?

Today's Haul!

So I was feeling pretty crappy all through classes today. I had a headache that just wouldn't go away and it's still a dull ache right now. I had the Fiance take me to Sally because I wanted some polish to cheer me up. Well, Sally sells China Glaze for double what I can get it for online so I ended up not getting anything there BUT there turned out to be a K-Mart next to the Sally so we wandered over there (Haven't seen one in years) and I picked up a bunch of Wet n Wild's new FastDry collection for 2011! I also got two of their new MegaLast colors because the bottles were adorable. We then headed over to Target to pick up stuff for dinner where I got a cute Hello Kitty nail polish pack of 5 and a neat heart glitter from their $1 section. Oh yeah, and a .94 cent NYC because I think I'm in love with green polish now after my Jade swatch... Swatches for the FastDry collection will be coming soon!

Edit: Just wanted to put in the name of the FastDry colors I picked up from Left to Right: Saved by the Blue, The Wonder Yellow, FuschiaRama, Hannah Pinktana, and Blue Wants to be a Millionaire. Can you see the theme here? Also, the Megalast colors are Haze of Love and Club Havana.

So, I know this is a nail blog but my favorite thing to dress up on my face is my eyes... That being said, I love eyeshadow and eyeliner nearly as much as I love nail polish! Wet n Wild Craze: Inferno

So I've been trying to make myself wear any color I swatch for at least two days (Not counting Kenyan Sunset lol). Today I wanted to move on from the Night Lights/Elephunk combo to a color I found in a mini pack of Funky Fingers at Five Below.

If you can find the names for these colors I will love you forever!
See the pretty pink color on the end? That's the color I wanted to try (It was a toss up between that and Wet n Wild's Mauve Frost. My dog picked the pink one lol. Yes, my dog) Anyways, it's a really awesome color for such a cheap mini set but what you can't see in the picture is that it's a multi-chrome. It flashes green and orange along with the original sorbet pink! I was all excited to try it out but it would not after 3 coats get nearly opaque soooo I tried putting Mauve Frost over it and I kept screwing up one or more nails. I figured that was my hands telling me to give it a break so I took everything off before I had to go to tutoring (I tutor elementary kids Monday or Wednesday nights).

Fed up as I was with the colors I'd just spent an hour and a half of my time on, I stopped by the local CVS where I got my Seche and picked up some fresh colors. I got Wet n Wild Craze Inferno and another one I can't remember off the top of my head but will swatch soon, I promise! I also got something to take care of my cuticles because they've been pretty shotty lately then bought some candy at the dollar store. I found an adorable pastel pink with pearlescent shimmer in it and had to get it for a dollar for Valentines day! I think I'll use it with a red french tip, we'll see what happens. Anyways, on to the Inferno!

These are my accomplices for this swatch: Seche Base on bottom, Wet n Wild Craze Inferno, and Seche Vite on top.

With Flash.

Without Flash.
I did three coats of Inferno though two coats probably would have been fine. I was sitting under some pretty strong lights to get this right after the earlier pink and mauve mishap so it took three for me to be satisfied with the opacity.

As you can see in this picture with artificial light, it's almost a pumpkin-y orange. In the picture below you can see the pretty gold shimmer in it though. I can't wait to see this one in sunlight!!

Anyone ever had a color you wanted to try but just couldn't get to work?

Funky Fingers Elephunk, Sally Hansen Night Lights

Ok so this is my third post today but I was too excited to wait! I found these at my local CVS today so I just had to do a new color with them.

I couldn't get Seche Vite without getting Seche Base after reading the boxes... I mean c'mon Seche base is the perfect base for binding with Seche Vite lol.
So I did another color I'd been wanting to try. I found Elephunk by Funky Fingers at our new Five Below store where the full sized bottles were 3 for $5. This is a neat medium grey color with minimal rainbow glitter throughout. Since the color that made me start collecting was Rimmel's Grey Matter, I had to add another!

This is two coats, no top coat, probably still wet!

I also found Sally Hansen's Night Lights at Five Below for $2.99 and loved it because I was in a mood for holo. Reading reviews on this polish I found out it was pretty hard to build it to opacity so I layered it over the Elephunk.

With shiney Seche vite topcoat!

Different lighting shows off the rainbow holo

The Layering actually made Night Lights match the bottle perfectly!
So there's what I'm wearing now! One coat of Seche Base, Two coats Funky Fingers Elephunk, One coat Sally Hansen Night Lights, and One coat Seche Vite!
